With an initial investment of $100,000, a team from Harrisonburg High School in Harrisonburg, Virginia won the Fall Session of Virginia's Stock Market Game. The team's final investment portfolio at the end of the 10 week session was $138,199, an impressive amount considering the ups and downs of today's market! David Heatwole was the advisor.
Second place for the statewide SMG competition was won by Home School for Economics which includes a 4th grade and 7th grade student. Their advisor is Shun Qin. A team from Deep Creek High School placed third with a portfolio of $126,861. Don Hurwitz was the advisor.

Team members and their teachers will be recognized at the Annual Awards luncheon to be held at The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond on May 13th.
The Spring Session of the Stock Market Game began February 7. Workshops and Webinars, as well as a free trial period, were available to teachers to explain this student educational program and ways it can be incorporated into the classroom. Click here to learn more.
