School administrators should contact VCEE or a center for economic education in their area if looking for guidance on where to find resources or to plan professional development opportunities for their teachers.
Since 2010, over 600 teachers have attended the economics or personal finance instiutes. The 40-42 hour instiutes were provided by VCEE and its affiliated university-based centers, in conjunction with the Federal Reserve, Financial Planning Association, Bureau of Insurance, VA Bankers Association, VA Departments of Agriculture and Consumer Services and Virginia Society of CPAs. A summary of the 2010 institutes, attended by approximately 250 teachers, can be found here. And a summary of the 2011 instiutes, serving more than 350 teachers can be found here.
VCEE and many business and community partners know how critical it is to send Virginia's students out into the world with basic economic and financial literacy. We stand ready to assist teachers and school divisions to provide their students with this education.
