| This program, co-sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, gives students in grades K-8 the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of economic concepts in a creative and fun way! |

| Students design a poster of any of the economic concepts included in the Virginia Standards of Learning. Selected concepts should be appropriate for the age level of the artist. Twelve state winners will each receive a $50 US Savings Bond and have their entries published on posters or in a calendar distributed across the Commonwealth. |

For 2010-11 preferred K-5 SOL topics include:
consumers; choices; opportunity cost; scarcity; specialization; interdependence; barter; people earning income; wants; trade and entrepreneurs.

For 2010-11 preferred 6-8 SOL topics include:
taxes; supply; circular flow; profit; corporations; entrepreneurs; credit; Federal Reserve System (the FED); and financial institutions.

| Entries must be students’ original work and in compliance with the following rules: |
 |
| Use 8 1/2 X 11 paper in horizontal format –leave a 1/2 inch margin around the paper. |
| Pictures should be in color with black lettering and all images outlined with a black felt tip marker. |
| The economic concept should be clearly written on the poster. |
| Concepts should be appropriate to grade level of artist, but preference will be given to the concepts listed above. Elementary school students will be judged separate from middle school students. |

No brand names or trademarks may be used.
Correct spelling only!
|
Do not fold entries.
Do not include the student's name on the front of the drawing.
Teachers, submit only the best entries and send them with one registration form. On the back of each entry, use tape to attach the following information on a 3 X 5 card: student's name, home address, teachers' name, grade, school, and school division. |
