Description
The Mini-Economy curriculum allows students to experience an in-class society; learning lessons about economics, entrepreneurship, and civics along the way.
In this program students design and develop their own classroom society, creating a name, flag, and currency. Then they establish their own businesses to provide goods and services to their fellow citizens in classroom markets. The economics and entrepreneurship skills and knowledge learned through the Mini-Economy incorporate and complement other thematic curricula such as language arts, social studies, math, science, critical thinking, problem solving, practical arts and cooperative learning. This program has proven to be successful in implementing the Virginia Standards of Learning in grades 3-8.
Participants receive:
•All books and materials necessary to implement this program
•Classroom ready lesson plans on entrepreneurship that are coordinated with the Virginia Standards of Learning
